Abstract
The free-electron laser (FEL) experiments are pushing toward shorter wavelengths, and the radius of the electron beam is becoming comparable with the waist of the laser. When this happens, the electrons at the outer edge of the radiation are no longer contributing efficiently to the radiation process.
