Abstract
We first briefly describe a novel way to generate excimer laser pulses of <10-psec pulse duration, up to 40-mJ pulse energy at 248.5 nm, and <6% amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) energy. This method uses a single excimer laser (a modified oscillator-amplifier combination) to pump a dye laser generating a single picosecond pulse at twice the excimer wavelength and to amplify the frequency-doubled dye-laser pulse to high peak powers.1
