Synthetic magnetic fields for phonons and photons through optomechanical interactions

Abstract

We demonstrate synthetic magnetic fields for both light and sound via radiation pressure. We show how optomechanical interactions and suitable symmetry breaking enable non-reciprocal phononic transport and polarization control for photons on a chip.
