Abstract

We observe passive mode-locking at ultra-low power levels generating near transform-limited 570ps pulses at a 14.8MHz repetition rate. This is achieved by using high nonlinear enhancement in a CMOS-compatible microring resonator incorporated in a SOA based nonlinear loop-mirror laser architecture.
