Silicon nano grid waveguide for coupling between multimode fiber (MMF) and silicon nano waveguide

Abstract

We present a new silicon waveguide configuration which enables a mode field expansion more than several tens of micrometers. It maintains singlemode operation condition and gradient index profile for compensating a misalignment in fiber coupling.
