Bend Loss Reduction of a Buried Waveguide on a Silicon Substrate by Adjusting the Core Location

Abstract

Leaky waves generated in a bent waveguide are suppressed by an appropriate choice of the distance between the core and the upper (lower) interface of the cladding. Loading a metal film reduces polarization dependent loss.
