Amplitude Modulation by Coherent Perfect Loss

Abstract

We propose a new type of phase-controllable modulator using coherent perfect loss (CPL) from a resonator. Device operation is described with temporal coupled-mode theory, and is verified by finite-difference time-domain simulations of two devices.
