Analysis of Optimum Pre-Emphasis in Ultra-Long-Haul Transmission Systems

Abstract

By simple calculations, we show that, in presence of nonlinearities, the optimum preemphasis techniques correspond to either same OSNR or same nonlinear phase-shift for all channels, yielding flat spectrum near the middle of the link.
