Transfer Matrix Theory for Contradirectional Devices and Compound Laser Structures

Abstract

The transfer matrix theory of contradirectional devices is established. The power conservation is formulated in terms of the metric tensor. The theory is used to analyze the thresholds and power distributions of external-cavity- and Y-lasers.
