Abstract

Semi-analytical simulation methods offer a computationally efficient alternative to numerical techniques and as such are ideally suited to rapid design and evaluation tasks. This paper presents a generalisation of the spectral index (SI) method, an established semi-analytical method for modal analysis of air clad rib waveguides, to allow simulation of more complex 3D structures.
