Erbium-Doped Waveguide-Amplifiers : Performance and Applications

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Despite the fact that EDWA (Erbium Doped Waveguide Amplifier) are now commercially available, there are still significant scientific and design activities involved in their development. After a review of their current performance and typical applications, I will describe their potential and their limitations and compare the different technologies involved.
