MODELLING AND EXPERIMENTS OF HIGH SPEED TDM SYSTEMS

Abstract

High speed TDM-transmission systems with a bit-rate of 40 ... 160 Gbit/s per TDM channel have been analyzed experimentally and theoretically. The advantage ofRZ over NRZ-transmission is clearly demonstrated. The advantageous use of standard single-mode fibre for 160 Gbit/s-TDM systems is shown with the feasability of single span transmission over 160 km. Furthermore, WDM-systems with high speed TDM-channels have been investigated.
