Abstract

Wavelength multiplexing and demultiplexing are required in wavelength division multiplex fibre communication (WDM) systems. Such functions for a relatively wide wavelength interval can be realised by using two mode interference (TMI) [1], [2]. We present here the design simulation and experimental results for a widened X-branch demultiplexer at 1.31 µm-1.55 µm in a soda-lime glass substrate by one step K+-Na+ ion exchange.
