Systematic Engineering of Waveguide-Resonator Coupling for Silicon Microring/Microdisk Resonators

Abstract

Systematic engineering of waveguide-resonator coupling for optimum phase-matching and field-overlap is proposed. Adding a thin silicon layer underneath the resonator dramatically improves the coupling. Coupling Q control over an extremely wide-range (104–106) is demonstrated.
