Surface Plasmon Assisted Broadband Emission from Nanostructured Metal-Insulator-Metal Tunnel Junctions

Abstract

We report the observation of double-peaked broadband emission from nanostructured Al-Al2O3-Au tunnel junctions at high applied voltages. We argue that it results from an interaction with surface plasmons excited at metal-air interface.
