Abstract

The reconfiguration speed of silicon photonic devices is enhanced by optimizing thin-film microheaters. We show theoretically and experimentally that narrower heaters, thinner buried oxide layers, and LPCVD SiN over-cladding can improve the reconfiguration speed.
