Abstract

Recently, it has been shown that highly reliable commercial components with record active and passive optical device counts, exceeding 50 discrete components, can be incorporated onto a single monolithic 100 Gbps DWDM transmitter chips based on InP. We will present results showing device counts exceeding 240 discrete components are practical. Highly integrated chips with record low size, weight, FIT, and power requirements will find applications not only in terrestrial telecom but future aerospace programs as well.
