BPM Based Efficient Sensitivity Analysis Exploiting the Adjoint Variable Method

Abstract

An adjoint variable method is proposed for efficient sensitivity analysis using BPM. The computational cost of estimating the gradient is less than one extra BPM simulation. The obtained sensitivities match well the accurate central differences.
