A Compact Polarization-Encoded SOA-MZI Modified Signed-Digit (MSD) All-Optical Adder

Abstract

A new approach to implement a compact all-optical MSD adder is reported using polarization-encoded SOA-MZI optical switches. The proposed adder requires 40% less optical switches compared to a recently reported adder.
