Design of a First-order Radial GRIN Achromat

Abstract

Beginning with the expression for the focal length of a GRIN element that is valid under paraxial approximations, we derive an expression for chromatic aberration. Together with the expression for focal length, we derive the design equations for a GRIN achromat.
