Abstract

Here we present our first results on the fs to ps relaxations in a series of square-planar d8 metal mixed-ligand dithiolene complexes, investigated with fs time resolved broadband transient absorption spectroscopy. In particular we studied two isoelectronic series (Ni, Pd, Pt) of two homologous complexes to clarify the role of the central atom, the ligands and the solvent. A common photocycle is found with the unexpected involvement of lower lying triplet states. In addition an unusually strong modulation of the electronic dynamics on the time scale of solvation response function is observed
