Long-Distance Entanglement between a Photon and a Single Trapped Atom

Abstract

Atom-photon entanglement provides a powerful interface between atomic memories and photonic communication channels. As a first step towards long-distance quantum communication we demonstrate atom-photon entanglement over a 300 meter long optical fiber.
