Abstract

We present the design and initial performance metrics for a novel snapshot hyperspectral imager based on the use of advanced micro-optics technology. The system simultaneously combines high spatial multiplex (~6000 spatial pixels) with good spectral sampling (R~100) over a limited wavelength range (400-700nm). We discuss the tradeoffs reached during the design optimisation process and give some initial results from the integration and test of a prototype laboratory demonstrator and plans for a miniaturized version.
