Two-Stage Nonlinear Compression of High Intensity Pulses

Abstract

We demonstrated two-stage laser pulse compression via self-phase modulation and dispersion compensation by chirped mirrors. 250-TW-pulse was compressed from 70fs to 14fs. This technique may be applied to any high power laser.
