Equation Of State Measurements of Warm Dense Matter Using Petawatt Laser Accelerated Proton Beams

Abstract

We present experiments studying the behavior of warm dense copper and chromium, isochorically heated from solid density using petawatt laser accelerated protons. Temperature and expansion measurements are compared to hydrodynamic simulations using modern EOS models.
