Abstract

The evolution of the carrier-envelope phase was fully electronically controlled in a train of sub-6-fs pulses and characterized for a train of sub-5-fs pulses. Optical waveform synthesis will soon enable the control of strong field nonlinear interactions on a time scale shorter than the optical cycle.
