Realization of a high-Q resonance by quasi-bound states in the continuum in a silicon metasurface with defects

Abstract

A metasurface supporting quasi-bound states in the continuum under normal excitation condition is designed by breaking symmetry of structures. The high-Q resonance in the proposed device may find applications in optical filters and novel lasers.
