Heralded Noiseless Attenuation for Quantum Optical Communication

Abstract

Motivated by potential applications in quantum communications, we review the process of noiseless attenuation, theoretically achievable with linear optics and post-selection, and describe experimental progress toward demonstrating this phenomenon in two physical systems.
