Spectral Considerations for Transportation Lighting Systems

Abstract

Performance specifications for transportation lighting use photopic photometry. However, photopic quantities are poorly correlated with many transportation-related visual responses such as peripheral target detection, brightness perception and discomfort glare. Potential impacts on specifications are discussed.
