Abstract

Here, we present Rhodamine B doped whispering gallery mode (WGM) microcavities fabricated via femtosecond laser induced two-photon polymerization. The undoped microcavities feature a Q-factor of 1×105 at 1550 nm wavelength range, which is competitive to that of their silicon-based counterparts. Threshold pump energies as low as 13 nJ with slope efficiency of 30% are obtained for free space pulsed excitation at 532 nm. The optical properties of Rhodamine B dissolved in our acrylic polymer were also investigated.
