Abstract

Two serially-coupled PIN photodiodes connected to a 1550nm VCSEL is theoretically modeled and experimentally demonstrated to exhibit optical bistability. The bistable device operates in megahertz range mainly due to parasitic inductance and capacitance of the circuit.
