Optimization of Coaxial Tm/Ho-Doped Fiber Lasers

Abstract

Simulations of a novel coaxial fiber having a Ho-doped core surrounded by a Tm-doped ring resulted in 52% laser efficiency. The conventional method, a Tm:fiber laser pumping a Ho:fiber laser, yielded a maximum 43% efficiency.
