Abstract

There are large individual differences in the cones densities at specific retinal locations. We compared the model of cone distribution within a central circle of 7 deg of retina, using data of healthy younger and older subjects collected with an Adaptive Optics Scanning Laser Ophthalmoscope. Both groups are well fit by an exponential model in all meridians except nasal, where the optic nerve head has no photoreceptors.
