Characteristics of Dissimilar-Fiber Long-Period Fiber Gratings

Abstract

A new kind of long-period fiber grating that contains dissimilar fiber types is fabricated and demonstrated. This dissimilar-fiber long-period fiber grating (DF-LPFG) is shown to exhibit good resonant attenuation and an acceptable insertion loss.
