Common Path Heterodyne Interferometer for Single Nanoparticle Detection in Fluids

Abstract

Sensitivity of interferometric detection of nanoparticles is limited by path length fluctuations. We present a novel, common path, heterodyne interferometer using a vibrating plate, that allows stable and sensitive sizing of single nanoparticles in solution.
