Abstract

Over the past 15 years, there have been significant advances in the field of astrophotonics, the interface between photonics and astronomical/space instrumentation. Recent advances include adaptive optics and laser communications, interferometry, photonic microspectrographs, vortex coronography and orbital angular momentum measurement, precision spectroscopy through fibre etalons, filtering through photonic lanterns and multi-core fibre gratings, and so forth.
