Abstract

Tb3+/Yb3+ co-doped NaYF4 microcrystals show intense ultraviolet upconversion emissions. The emissions of Tb3+ at 323, 338, 352, and 368 nm are observed for the first time. They are generated by a three-photon upconversion process.
