Towards Generation of Long and Continuous Plasma Channels in Air

Abstract

We experimentally demonstrate concatenation of several filaments left in the wake of powerful femtosecond laser. Lifetime of plasma filaments is extended using an external nanoseconds laser thus allowing generation of long, continuous high density plasma channels in air.
