Nanoscale conducting oxide plasmonic slot waveguide modulator

Abstract

We demonstrate an ultra-compact plasmonic slot waveguide field-effect modulator based on a transparent conducting oxide active region. Numerical simulations show that modulation depths upwards of 2.5 and 11 dB in tapered and stub-resonant structures, respectively.
