Joint Residual Stress and Refractive Index Characterization of Polarization-Maintaining Optical Fibers

Abstract

The residual stress and refractive index of polarization-maintaining fibers (PMFs) are jointly measured at high resolution. The novel measurement technique used reveals the local birefringence and other subtle effects associated with PMFs.
