Statistical Thermalization of Anderson-localized Light

Abstract

We show that coherent light traveling through a 1-D lattice of coupled waveguides with off-diagonal disorder exhibits super-thermal statistics (g(2) > 2) at asymptotic propagation distances. The slightest disorder causes a jump from g(2) = 1 to g(2) 3.
