Geometric Phase Holograms - fabricating generalized polarization gratings enabling arbitrary wavefront control with perfect efficiency

Abstract

We report on methods to create arbitrary birefringence profiles with liquid crystal and photo-alignment materials, which lead to elements (holograms) with nearly arbitrary phase control via the geometric phase with ~100% efficiency, for UV/VIS/IR wavelengths.
