Fluorescence of Influenza Hemagglutinin Surface Protein

Abstract

Spectroscopy of avian influenza hemagglutinin reveals changes in peak position and emission intensity of tryptophan fluorescence upon exposure to an acidic environment. These are attributed to conformational changes in the hemagglutinin induced by lower pH.
