Bases for focused waves in two dimensions

Abstract

We present a new family of closed-form solutions to the two-dimensional Helmholtz equation, which form a complete basis and are nonparaxial analogs of the Hermite-Gauss beams. Their scattering off circular obstacles is also discussed.
