Abstract

Methods to image local surface impedance and electrochemical current optically are developed. The principles of the new imaging techniques are based on the sensitive dependence of surface plasmon resonance (SPR) on local surface charge and current density. These imaging capabilities may be used as new detection platforms for DNA and protein microarrays, and new tools for imaging cells and tissues.
