Chip-scale all-optical group delay

Abstract

Recent results on ultra-compact optical delay lines based on SOI photonic wires and photonic crystals are reviewed. On-chip group delays exceeding 4 bits have been successfully demonstrated for bandwidth of 10Gbps within a footprint of 0.1mm2.
