Chiral Phenomena in Nonlinear Optics

Abstract

The unique nonlinear optical properties of chiral interfaces suggest a wealth of nascent structural information in studies of biological interfaces can be mined from polarization- dependent second harmonic generation (SHG) and sum-frequency generation (SFG) measurements. Recent research efforts in our group have focused on understanding and interpreting the origins of chiral phenomena in second-order nonlinear optical processes.
