Tailoring Spontaneous Emission Lifetimes of Rare-Earths

Abstract

Spontaneous emission lifetimes of rare-earths are modified in a binary glass. The results are analyzed in the framework of local field. The parameter related to the radius of the cavity around the ion is determined.
