Information capacity and error-correction codes for the free-space optical atmospheric communication channel

Abstract

We estimate the capacity of the On-Off-Keying modulated optical atmospheric turbulent channel for a wide range of turbulence conditions and evaluate efficient error-correction schemes, finding significant performance improvement for all turbulence conditions.
