Passive and Active Silicon Nanophotonic Circuits

Abstract

We will review results on nanophotonic circuits based on photonic crystals and photonic wires. Strong light confinement permits dramatic scaling of the active device area below 100μm2 with reduced operation power and increased efficiency.
